What is Hoosier Healthwise?
Hoosier Healthwise (HHW) is an affordable health insurance program through Indiana Medicaid.
Who Qualifies for Hoosier Healthwise?
Those who qualify for HHW are:
- Children
- Pregnant women
- Families with low income
Hoosier Healthwise Indiana Medicaid plans covers medical care like doctor visits, prescription medicine, mental health care, dental care, hospitalizations, surgeries and family planning. Services are at little or no cost to the member or the member’s family.
The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) falls under the Hoosier Healthwise program. CHIP is for children up to age 19 whose families have slightly higher incomes. In CHIP, members are required to pay a low monthly premium for coverage as well as copays for certain services.
How to Become a Hoosier Healthwise MHS Member
With HHW, you have a choice of health plans to help coordinate your care. Members select a health plan or will be assigned to one and will stay with that health plan through the calendar year.
