Report Fraud, Waste and Abuse

If you think a plan member or a provider has committed waste, abuse or fraud, you have a right and a responsibility to report this.

Examples of member fraud or abuse include a member who allows someone else who is not covered by the plan to use their ID card or a member who seeks to have the plan pay for drugs that are not medically necessary.

Examples of provider fraud or abuse include billing members for services that were not performed, or offering members money in return for using their member number.

MHS has processes to help identify, prevent and respond to possible fraud or abuse of the HHW or HIP programs. We have a process to help members, providers, staff or others report these concerns. Members and Providers have the right to request a copy of our Fraud and Abuse Policy, which applies to both providers and members. Others are welcome to request it as well. Call MHS Compliance to request a copy of our Fraud, Waste and Abuse Prevention, Detection and Reporting procedures.

You may call MHS Compliance to report fraud. To make a confidential report about suspected fraud, waste or abuse you may call toll-free 1-866-685-8664. You may also call the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s confidential phone line, toll-free at 1-800-403-0864
