Every Kid Healthy Week

Date: 04/23/18

Did you know one in three kids in the U.S. are overweight or obese? That’s why it’s important to teach children about nutrition and exercise. Managed Health Services (MHS) is helping hundreds of students learn about healthy eating.

Every Kid Healthy Week is April 23-27. Through our Adopt-A-School program, MHS is partnering with Washington Elementary School in East Chicago, Nuner Primary Center in South Bend and Elwood Elementary School in Elwood. The week promotes healthy eating, nutrition education, physical activity and physical education.

MHS is providing an opportunity for students to try new fruits and vegetables every day of the week. Students can participate in a taste test throughout the week at school. Teachers will encourage students to try fruits and vegetables like avocado, pomegranate, zucchini, papaya and beets. The kids will learn about the benefits of the foods each day.
