MHS and Project Home Indy (PHI) support the health of moms and babies.
Are you thinking of breastfeeding your new baby? There are many benefits for both mom and baby.
If you are planning to breastfeed after your baby is born, here are some steps to prepare:
- Tell your doctor about your plans to breastfeed. Ask about your hospital or birth center’s breastfeeding support options.
- Take a breastfeeding class. Classes will help you learn techniques and allow you to ask questions before the baby comes.
- Ask your doctor about a lactation consultant.
- Discuss your health with your doctor. Let them know if you have had any breast surgeries, if you take any medicines or supplements, or have depression.
- Talk to friends who have breastfed or join a breastfeeding support group.

MHS and Project Home Indy want to wish all the mothers a Happy Mother’s Day!
