MHS and Moms-to-Be: Special Programs

At MHS, we care about our members who are pregnant. That’s why we offer special programs for moms-to-be and their babies.

We may refer members to one of two programs:

• Start Smart for Your Baby
• Special Deliveries

In Start Smart for Your Baby, we match members with an MHS Nurse Care Manager. That nurse talks with the member throughout their pregnancy. They find out the member’s needs and how they can help, like helping with scheduling prenatal visits. Going to prenatal care appointments is one of the best ways to stay healthy during pregnancy!

Special Deliveries is for moms-to-be who may have complications. We match members in this program with an obstetrical (OB) nurse. The nurse works to get to really know the member. Nurses answer questions and talk about concerns. They will talk with members both over the phone and in person. They work to help our members have healthy pregnancies.

Nurses in both programs work with the member until six weeks after she gives birth. They give members important information about their pregnancy. That gives members tools to make choices that will help them have a healthier baby.

Both programs also offer My Health Pays rewards. Members can earn:

• $50 for completing a Notification of Pregnancy (NOP) form in the first trimester, or $25 for completing the NOP form in the second trimester. Members can take the NOP through their secure portal account, or call MHS.
• $20 for going to a postpartum visit with their doctor
• Additional rewards for participating in OB Case Management

Members can use these rewards to pay things like groceries, personal care items, or baby care items like diapers and wipes
