Important Notice to Managed Health Services (MHS) Members

Date: 12/20/18

This is an important notice to inform Managed Health Services (MHS) members. We identified a possible disclosure of protected health plan information.  MHS has become aware that some members’ protected health information was unintentionally disclosed when a letter regarding an upcoming pharmacy change was incorrectly mailed to the address of another member of MHS. The mailing occurred on October 16, 2018.

MHS is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our members’ information. We learned of the event on October 25, 2018. We began an immediate investigation. The letter included name, insurance ID number and medication information. We are working to help prevent something like this from happening in the future. Actions we are taking include:

  • Conducting call campaigns to retrieve all letters mailed by mistake from the recipients.
  • Reinforcing our policies and procedures around mailing of protected health information to members.
  • Reviewing our practices in relation to submission of mailing addresses to our national mailing center.

MHS has no reason to believe any member’s information has been used wrongly. But we want to be careful. MHS is offering 12months of credit and CyberScan monitoring for all impacted members.

If members notice suspicious activity regarding any of their personal accounts, or have reason to believe that their information is being misused, please call MHS. Member Services is available to answer questions from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. Contact us by phone at 1-877-647-4848. For more help on steps you can take to protect your information, you can contact the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov or 1-877-438-4338.
