Tour De Cure
Date: 07/02/19
Ride! Run! Walk! It’s time for the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) biggest fundraising event of the year. Be a part of the 2019 Tour de Cure Ride, Run, Walk!
Each year, this event raises funds through strong support from groups and people across the country. Those funds are important. They help ADA support three main goals:
- Treat, manage, and prevent all types of diabetes
- Safeguard policies and programs that protect people with diabetes
- Find a cure
Tour de Cure gives people the chance to take control of their health. Walking, running, and cycling are all good for you. This kind of activity:
- Makes your heart and bones strong
- Relieves stress
- Helps your body use insulin better
- Improves blood flow
- Lowers your risk for heart disease
The Tour de Cure is a great way to become and stay active. It’s a racing experience unlike any other.
On the day of the race, Red Riders and Red Striders are the stars of the show. These are participants who are racing with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. They show the courage it takes to live with diabetes each and every day. They’ll be sporting bright Red Rider and Red Strider jerseys. These special riders and striders are recognized before and after the race.
“There are many things that set the Tour de Cure apart from other events: singularity of purpose, spirit of community, close personal relationships, and unconditional support for each other.” –Brian Swanson, Past Participant
