MHS Hosts Healthy Celebration at Northshore Health Center on June 19 2013

MHS will be hosting a Healthy Celebration on June 19, 2013, 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM at Northshore Health Center, located at 6901 Broadway Merrillville, IN.
For this special event, MHS is partnering with Northshore Health Center and its pediatricians to offer well-child visits (check-ups) and age-appropriate children’s immunizations for MHS members with a scheduled appointment.

June is National Safety Month – MHS Warns about Poisonous Plants and How to Stay Safe

Got a curious child or pet? Pets and small children are prone to taste anything within reach, and many of the plants in your house and yard may be poisonous if swallowed. Each year, just fewer than 4% of poisonings in the U.S. are caused by plants. Because children are small, it doesn’t take a large amount of plant to be swallowed to cause harm to them, so they are especially vulnerable.

Get Moving in May for Physical Fitness and Sports Month!

May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. MHS wants children and families to get outside and have fun together!

One-third of children and two-thirds of adults are overweight or obese. That’s according to Let’s Move. Let’s Move is a program started by First Lady Michelle Obama to help families get active.

MHS Partners with Radio Disney to Teach Students about Healthy Living

MHS and Radio Disney are teaming up to “adopt a school.” They are teaching students about healthy living in a fun way!

It’s called “Rosie’s Rockin’ Recess.” MHS mascot RosieRoo joins the Radio Disney Road Crew. The event takes place May 9 at 1:40 p.m. It is at Grissom Elementary School in Gary.

There are games and contests to show kids that exercise can be fun! And Dr. Yancy from MHS will talk with students about staying active.
