Additional Payment for Primary Care Services

In accordance with Indiana Health Coverage Programs and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements, MHS issues additional payment representing the lump sum dollar amount for primary care services eligible for the increase in payment from 100% of Indiana Medicaid to 100% of Medicare for qualifying primary care services to physicians for claims submitted and processed from the previous quarter. These payments are issued  on a quarterly basis as outlined in IHCP Bulletins BT201247, BT201255 and BT201302.

Affordable Care Act Allows Qualifying Providers to Receive Additional Payment through State Attestation

As communicated in recent Indiana Health Coverage Programs’ Bulletins, per the Affordable Care Act (ACA), qualifying providers who complete an attestation with the state are eligible for additional payment up to the Medicare payment rate. The additional payment applies to specific services only, including certain E&M and vaccine administration services. Please refer to BT201247 for details on qualifying codes, at indianamedicaid.com.
