MHS a Sponsor of Chase 500 Festival Rookie Run Encouraging Physical Fitness in Kids

MHS is taking part in all the excitement that is the Indianapolis 500 as a sponsor of one of its popular pre-race festivities. 

MHS is a sponsor of the Chase 500 Festival Rookie Run, which takes place Sunday, May 15, from 1-3 p.m. in downtown Indianapolis at the corner of Ohio and Meridian Streets. All kids ages 3-12 are invited to participate in the Rookie Run, a non-competitive fun run which encourages kids to stay physically fit.

MHS Cares about National Infant Immunization Week, April 23-30

National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) is an annual observance to highlight the importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable diseases and celebrate the achievements of immunization programs and their partners in promoting healthy communities. Since 1994, NIIW has served as a call to action for parents, caregivers, and healthcare providers to ensure that infants are fully immunized against 14 vaccine-preventable diseases. In 2011, NIIW is observed April 23-30.

Strano-Smith is the MHS Director of Quality Improvement

In her role, Strano-Smith oversees all quality improvement functions within MHS, including but not limited to Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning (OMPP) requirements, National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) accreditation and Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS).

FDA Advisory: Terbutaline Label Change

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Advisory, February 17, 2011

FDA notified healthcare professionals that injectable terbutaline should not be used in pregnant women for prevention or prolonged treatment (beyond 48-72 hours) of preterm labor in either the hospital or outpatient setting because of the potential for serious maternal heart problems and death. In addition, oral terbutaline should not be used for prevention or any treatment of preterm labor because it has not been shown to be effective and has similar safety concerns.

MHS Welcomes Nahod-Carlin as Marketing Manager

MHS is pleased to announce that Jo Nahod-Carlin has joined the company as its marketing manager.

In her new role, Nahod-Carlin manages the writing, design and production of all MHS materials, such as newsletters, handbooks, manuals, promotional items and website content. She also maintains and supports the cultural competency program; serves as the media contact and spokesperson on health plan-specific issues and coordinates appropriate media responses with executive management; establishes contacts and manages relationships with local vendors and community-based organizations; and works with all internal departments to achieve maximum outcomes in marketing initiatives and daily outreach activities, among other duties.

Holly Ross Fills MHS Finance Manager Role

In this role, Ross oversees the maintenance of accurate financial records, including preparing monthly financial reports and various analytical reports; routine financial analysis; and complete complex financial analysis.
