Several states have banned trans fats from the menus of restaurants in their cities, and MHS encourages YOU to get on the trans fat “ban wagon!”

What’s the big deal? According to the American Heart Association, trans fats raise “bad” (LDL) cholesterol and can lower “good” (HDL) cholesterol, contributing to the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Reminder: Get Your Flu Shot!

Flu season is picking up steam! According to CNN, more than half of states are reporting widespread flu activity. Health officials also say cases are more severe this year.

There have been more than 2,000 hospitalizations associated with the flu virus. Among children, there have been multiple deaths reported nationwide during this season. Flu deaths have already been reported in Indiana.
