5th Annual Back to School Community and Health Fest at Martin Luther King Community Center

The Martin Luther King Community Center and MHS team up to host the 5th Annual Back-to-School Community and Health Fest, presented by MHS.

The event takes place Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Community Center, located at 40th and Illinois Streets in Indianapolis. It will feature free health screenings, Hoosier Healthwise and Healthy Indiana Plan information and FREE backpacks and school supply giveaways, along with free food, music and prizes. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

MHS is proud to bring educational entertainment options including “The Storyteller’s Drum”, a blend of African Diaspora music and storytelling by the Griot Drum Ensemble, free healthy cooking demonstrations and tasting samples from the Purdue Extension Family Nutrition Program of Marion County as well as personal trainers to educate people on proper exercises.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to a local food bank.
