‘Tis the Season for Leftovers

Posted by & filed under Blog, Member News, Newsroom.

It’s that time of year when family and friends gather together to share in the joy and love of the holidays — AND share in lots of yummy food! Leftovers are great for making sandwiches, casseroles and salads, but MHS wants you to make sure to always practice food safety with leftovers as well!

According to the Food and Drug Administration, you should eat refrigerated leftovers within four days. Leftovers should also be stored in the refrigerator within two hours after cooking is completed. Bacteria that causes food poisoning can multiply to undesirable levels on perishable foods left at room temperature for longer than two hours.

So, be safe with your leftovers — and ENJOY!
